Tips & Tricks
We went to our top Alpha Demo players, streamers, and content creators - the brave souls who’ve faced every bug, beast and boss interaction - to gather their best Tips & Tricks for surviving (and thriving) in the ever dangerous Wildlands.
These are the veterans who learned when to fight, when to flee and when to pretend they were “just testing something, but yeah, that didn't work". Their wisdom comes from countless battles, questionable choices and moments of absolute brilliance.

Positioning: Know how your enemies attack, know who your characters can attack, don't let your damage dealers be wiped by a single attack.
Stats: Most vital part of the game. Always equip items that give the proper stats to your classes. Health is always top tier especially to help your glass cannons survive.
Plan: Always have a backup plan, crits will ruin any well crafted plan, so make sure you know when to call it quits and when you can actually fight on.

Enter each stage with caution. Just because you beat a stage previously doesn't mean it can be completed the same way every time. Enemies change with each run, so adapt your strategy accordingly.
Remember that each tier gets progressively harder: three wolves in stage eight are much tougher than in stage three.
Don't be afraid to reposition your characters on the grid before battle if you know what enemies you'll face.
There's no shame in fleeing to fight another day.

Overleveling is your best friend. If you beat stages as easily as Sung (Solo Leveling reference here), you’re good to venture into the next stage. (Bonus tip: by overleveling, you have greater flexibility to progress further if a hero dies before reaching a healing spring.)
Try to kill "mini" bosses consistently before going to the final stage boss, but be careful the further you go - especially beware of golden bosses. (They tend to not appear within 1–3 fields into the stage. Bosses generally tend to be easier earlier on; the further you progress, the harder the bosses will get.)

Mercenary promotion: do it as early as possible, preferably at level 1. It’s better to have 5 mercenaries upgraded right away than 6 that you’ll only improve at level 15.
Path selection: if you have a chance to fight a mini-boss, always go for it. But consider the possibility of a Golden Dragon appearing, and always keep an Escape Portal with you just in case.
Equipment: Don’t spend Retractkins before getting items from Chapter 4. When you do, gather a complete Maverick Charms set for all your ranged units.
