sackBattle - Item Bag

When blades break and SP runs dry, it’s often not your mighty sword or mystical staff that saves the day — it’s what’s in your bag. In Faenora, items are the unsung heroes of survival, from life-saving potions to tactical gadgets that warp reality (and occasionally Moochkin’s eyebrows).

Preparing Your Item Bag

Before heading out on a Hunt, visit the Squad Formation screen to stock your Item Bag. Only the items placed here can be used during battle. Everything else stays safely away from danger collecting dust and regret.

You can equip up to three item slots (for now), so be selective:

  • Will you pack potions for safety?

  • Salves for SP recovery?

  • Or roll the dice with something a bit more… experimental (looking at you, Escape Portal)?

Moochkin calls it “strategic inventory optimization”. You might call it “panicking over which bubbly to bring to your date with death”. Both are valid.

Using Items in Combat

Items can only be used while in Manual Mode. Your Hunters aren’t smart enough (yet) to drink potions on their own.

To use an item:

  1. Toggle the unit to Manual Mode.

  2. Select Item you want to use from the command menu.

  3. Apply it wisely. Potions don’t grow on trees. (Apples do, but that’s for stamina.)

Common Battle Consumables

Item
Description
Effect

Potion

The timeless favorite of adventurers who overestimate themselves.

Restores HP (single ally).

Heal Packs

A late game necessity.

Restores HP (squad).

Salve

Smells weird but works wonders.

Restores SP.

Escape Portal

Moochkin’s portable panic button.

Instantly retreats your squad from battle. Single use.

Strategy & Selectivity

Choosing the right loadout is part of your preparation ritual:

  • Early Hunts: Potions and Salves are your best friends.

  • Late Hunts: Consider one utility item, like the Escape Portal, for emergencies (or bad life choices).

  • All Hunts: Don’t bring three of the same thing unless you’re auditioning for “Faenora’s Most Boring Adventurer”.

Remember: you only get three slots, but your choices might decide whether you make it home with loot or become a cautionary tale told by the Donegal innkeeper.

Moochkin’s Tip:

“If you ever find yourself saying ‘I probably won’t need healing items this time,’ congratulations - you’ve just guaranteed that you will.”
