Death and Taxes
In Faenora, two things are certain: monsters will kill you and the King will tax you for it.
Every Hunt carries risk. Whether your squad limps home or gets turned into Netherbeast nom noms, there’s always paperwork (and probably a bill).

Death
Even the best Hunters may fall. What matters is what happens after.
If a Hunter dies, you’ve got options:
Healing Spring – A rare sanctuary that revives fallen allies if found during your Hunt.
Revival Items – Priceless relics that can raise your unit mid-Hunt. (Assuming you are lucky enough to find one.)
Inn in Donegal – Once back at base, the local Innkeeper can bring your Hunter back… for a modest MCHY fee. (Modest in the royal sense of the word, meaning “expensive and climbing".)
Each Hunter death increases the Hunter's death counter, which doubles the cost for that Hunter. So if you’re planning on dying a lot, you might want to start saving (or invest in sturdier equipment).
If a Recruit dies, don’t lose sleep. They were temporary help, bless their optimistic little hearts. No Inn bill, no revival queue, no problem. They fade from your roster as quietly as they entered.
If your Hunter's death counter reaches unmanageable levels, there may be hope for you yet through an unsanctioned Purification ritual.
Taxes
When your Hunt ends, the Kingdom of Faenora ensures your “contribution to the crown” is properly collected.
All Fen (the Wildlands’ expedition currency) and any items or gear are confiscated - or rather "contributed to the crown" - upon return. That is, unless you’ve been clever enough to use a Retractkin to keep them off the books.
Fen: Handed over in full. The tax collector calls it “standard procedure”.
Equipment: Anything not secured via Retractkin gets “redirected to royal storage” (which is Faenoran for “hey, how did that guy get my stuff?”).
Retractkin Users: Exempt from confiscation. Moochkin may or may not have a secret understanding with the Barracks officer about such “technical exemptions”.
As for the broader tax and financial system in Donegal? Let’s just say it’s a work in progress. The Kingdom’s number crunchers are still figuring out what qualifies as taxable income when your job involves slaying netherbeasts and hoarding cursed loot. Expect the unexpected as the economy progresses.
“Taxation? Pfft. They're just recycling equipment for more wayward or desperate souls venturing off to their doom.” – overheard in the Donegal tavern
